Namarca Corowa

Born and bred in Mackay and an Australian South Sea Islander, descendant of the Kanakas brought to Australia in 1860's as slaves, Namarca sings about hope, freedom and plays music as a way of delivering that message and provide education on the dark history of the region and pathways to healing.

Singer songwriter, Namarca Corowa performs a style mix of reggae, funk and blues. He has been playing music (Guitar and drums) since he was 12 years and has worked as a pub muso, restaurant entertainer, guitar and drum tutor, and festival performer and released his first album in 2006. In 2013 Namarca released a community album of stories and songs about the black birding human trafficking history in the foundations of Queensland. In 2015, Namarca released his album Back to Life.

Namarca with his wife Vikki are the Founding Directors of Reconcile Life Pty Ltd which provides programs including music and arts for families to grow through adversity with activities based on traditional culture.
