Fun for the whole family

The Whitsundays Arts Festival welcomes a new addition to the program on Sunday 25 September: Kids Arts Workshops. The Kids Workshop program promises to be a fun and creative activity for families. From 9am-4pm in a specially allocated marquee, the Festival is offering several varied activities as drop-in sessions, as well as two sessions where registration is required. All of our activities for children are free.

The workshops have been designed for children by two resident Festival artists, local children’s book writer and illustrator Sofia Fortunato from Little Red House and Townsville artist Lisa Ashcroft who was last year’s winner of the inaugural Whitsundays Art Prize.

As well as the workshop program, kids can get involved throughout the day in featured interactive activities including belly dancing with Melanie McDonnell, African drumming with Festival favourites Baala Baajo, and ukulele playing with Cairns duo Jazzuleles.

The Kids Workshops program is made possible through the generous support of Amanda Camm, Local Member of Queensland Parliament, and BHP.
