Award-winning Australian songwriter Mark Sholtez will be a mentor at the Whitsundays Songwriter Festival

In a second artist announcement, the Whitsundays Arts Festival is hosting ARIA nominated and APRA award-winning Australian songwriter and recording artist Mark Sholtez in Airlie Beach as part of the Whitsundays Songwriter Festival taking place from August 31 to 4 September.

Mark Sholtez was the first Australian artist to record for the legendary Verve record label in New York, and his career to date has included collaborations with music industry icons including Tommy LiPuma (Barbra Streisand), Grammy Lifetime Achievement recipient and noted veteran engineer Al Schmitt (Frank Sinatra), multiple Grammy winning producer Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell), as well as internationally renowned artists and songwriters Don Walker (Cold Chisel), Troy Cassar-Daley, and Wendy Mathews.

Currently signed to EMI Music Publishing Australia, in addition to his own major label releases, Mark’s music has appeared in numerous international film and television productions including, Private Practice, Pretty Little Liars, Teen Wolf, Grim, and Packed to the Rafters.

Mark Sholtez will take part in the Whitsundays Songwriter Festival and Residency as part of the professional Songwriter Residential Retreat (31 August - 4 September) at Yangaro Resort alongside Toni Childs, Francesca de Valence, and Karen Jacobsen, with the final artists announcement to be revealed soon.

As a lecturer in Songwriting and Music Production at the University of Southern Queensland, and teaching at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Mark will be a huge asset joining our Professional Faculty as part of the one-day songwriting workshop for aspiring songwriters on Saturday 2 September. Mark will also perform alongside the festival professional faculty as part of an evening performance at Paradiso on the Airlie Beach foreshore on Saturday 2 September from 5pm. The artists will showcase new works and share personal stories in this intimate performance.
